My first gardenia flower has bloomed!
|My first gardenia flower has bloomed!
This is the first Gardenia flower to bloom in my garden. A couple of gardenia plants were brought from a local nursery, set in a 12 inch garden pot. But they were not flowering at all. I replanted one in an 18 inch garden pot and this one started flowering! The other one remaining in the 12 inch garden pot is yet to flower.
Gardenia plants have an excellent fragrance, possibly to attract pollinators, like other white flowers which bloom in the night. The fragrance is responsible for its local names ‘Gandarajan’ and ‘Sugandarajan’, meaning the king of fragrance. Jasmine is another example of a white flower with excellent fragrance.
