Ginger plant (Zingiber officinale)

Ginger plant (Zingiber officinale) bringing out a shoot and few tender leaves. I had planted a piece of ginger taken from the kitchen and forgotten about it as it did not sprout for a long time. Today I was surprised to see this plant, partly hidden by the leaves of a couple of pumpkin plants growing nearby. I had to sway those leaves away to get a picture of this plant. Ginger is a widely used spice.
